Visiting the
National Research Council Institute for Marine Biosciences in Halifax - Nova
Scotia
According to the scientific plan of the Bureau of Cultural and
Educational Affaires for the year 2009, and in the frame work of the preparation
for the videoconference in the field of Life Science and Functional Foods, Prof.
Dr. Nebal El Tanbouly held an official visit to the National Research Council
Institute for Marine Biosciences in Halifax - Nova Scotia on August
6th, 2009.
The NRC - IBM is considered one of the world’s most
versatile centers of Excellence in marine research facilities. Its unique
multi-disciplinary approach is focused on marine bioproducts for the discovery
and development of bioactives, natural toxins, functional foods and
nutraceuticals.
During her meeting with Dr. Aleksander Patrzykat, Acting
Director of Research and Dr. Stephen Leary, Research Officer in algal bioactive
compounds, Prof. Dr. El Tanbouly discussed the possibility of exchanging
expertise between the NRC - IBM and the National Research Center in Egypt and to
benefit from this advanced technology application on Lake Mariout in Burj Al
Arab area in Alexandria.
