Meeting with Dr. Dorval Brunelle -
Director of the Institute of International Studies of Montreal - UQAM
, In the Bureau of Cultural & Educational Affaires
On
Friday, 21st of August, Prof. Dr. Nebal El Tanbouly, Consul, Cultural
& Educational Affaires held a meeting with Dr. Dorval Brunelle,
Professor of Sociology and Director of the Institute of International Studies of
Montreal in the University of Quebec, to discuss the Institute’s proposal to
organize an Egyptian week in the University of Quebec in Montreal “
Semaine Egypte a l’UQAM “
Dr. Brunelle proposed the intention of the
Institute of International Studies of Montreal, in collaboration with the UNESCO
Chair in Studies of philosophic foundations of justice and democratic society,
to hold a week devoted to Egypt. The event would focus on chosen topics on
political, economic, social and cultural issues, and would be organized with
partners from Egypt, Canada and Quebec. It should involve both the Egyptian
community in Montreal and Quebec and the specialists of Egyptology. This would
both value the contributions of citizens of the Egyptian business community,
social organizations, cultural and academic institutions, stressing on the
multiple ownership links maintained and serviced by nationals’ community with
their country of origin.
The whole event will be structured around a
number of panel discussions on topical issues (links between business community,
academic debates, social and political conditions, etc...) and for a target
audience. Meanwhile, in the background, events for the general public would be
organized throughout the week (film festival, music, lectures of
various
personalities, etc…)
