Visit of Prof. Dr. Saad Kassem, Counselor of the Ministry of Higher Education for the Technical Colleges Project
The Bureau of Cultural and Educational Affaires in Montréal organized a program of field visits for Prof. Dr. Saad Kassem, Counselor of the Ministry of Higher Education for the Technical Colleges Project on August 26th 2009, where the program included:
·Visit of the « École de Technologie Supérieure ETC - Université du Québec » and meeting with the Dean, Prof. Dr. Sylvie Doré, where they discussed ways of cooperation to develop curriculum of technical education in Egypt and linking it with the needs of stakeholders.
·Visit of laboratories and workshops of Dawson College for technical education, and the meeting with Prof. Dr. / Raymond Bourgeois - Dean of the Faculty of Medical Sciences and Engineering. The meeting aimed at discussing ways to develop and update laboratories and workshops in the colleges and technical institutes in Egypt and cooperation in the development of programs for training of trainers.
In a follow-up outcome of the videoconference on Technical Education which was organized by the Bureau of Cultural and Educational Affaires in cooperation with the sector of missions in the Ministry of Higher Education on February 25th 2009, a Teleconference was held between Prof. Dr. Saad Kassem and Dr. Abla Sherif (of Egyptian origin), Director of the International Education Center in Algonquin College for technical education and trades. During the conference, it was agreed between the parties on the exchange of proposals to develop training programs for trainers, curriculum development and joint degrees in fields that had been agreed upon in previous meetings.
Prof. Dr. Nebal El Tanbouly, Consul of Cultural and Educational Affaires, chaired the conference. Dr. Amany Fouad, Cultural Attaché and Dr. Sherif Khashana, Scientific Coordinator, participated in the field visits.
