Videoconference on medical cooperation in the field of Cardio-thoracic surgery
In the framework of following up the results of the official visit to the Université de Sherbrooke on the 27th of April 2009, the Bureau of Cultural and Educational Affaires in Montréal - Canada organized a videoconference between the Department of the Thoracic Surgery in the Faculty of Medicine, Université de Sherbrooke and The Department of the Cardio-thoracic Surgery in the Faculty of Medicine, Alexandria University.
The conference targeted discussing the final details of the preparation for the visit of the Canadian Surgical team to Alexandria University in mid October and exploring the possibility of cooperation between both faculties.
The University of Sherbrooke represented by:
1- Dr. Vincent Echavé, Thoracic Surgeon
2- Dr. Marco Sorois, Head of the Department of the Thoracic Surgery
3- Dr. Javier Teijiera, Cardio-thoracic surgeon and responsible for the international relations of the Faculty of Medicine & Health Sciences
4- Eric Rousseau, Department of Physiology and fundamental research
5- Dr. Walid Abou Arab, Fellow, Thoracic surgery department
6-
Participants from the Faculty of Medicine, Alexandria University:
1- Prof. Dr. Ahmed Saleh, Head of the Cardiothoracic surgery department
2- Prof. Dr. Emad Ibrahim, Department of Pulmonary Medicine
3- Prof. Dr. Mohamed Zidan, Department of Pulmonary Medicine (French section)
The meeting concluded the following:
1. Developing undergraduate curricula , particularly in the French section, in cooperation with the Universitéde Sherbrooke
2. Cooperation in the field of fundamental research projects and the possibility to receive researchers from Alexandria in Sherbrooke in the field of thoracic surgery and pulmonary medicine (an invitation of an Egyptian team to Sherbrooke next spring)
3. Sharing the clinical experience between both departments in certain specific areas through videoconferences (you have to set up an agenda for that in collaboration with the staff of thoracic surgery and pulmonary medicine).
4. The possibility of the Faculty of Medicine in Alexandria to share in the next conference of the society of the cardiac surgery on 15 - 18 June 2011.
Prof. Dr. Nebal El Tanbouly, Consul, Cultural & Educational Affaires chaired the session with the participation of Dr Sherif Khashana, Coordinator of Scientific Affaires.
